Global demand for clean water will outpace supply within the next few decades, yet we currently waste trillions of gallons every year. Our water infrastructure, treatment methods and data systems will play a huge role in meeting the growing demand for our little friend H2O. Put your money into companies conserving water, cleaning it up, and streamlining our systems.
Water is scarce
Global demand for clean water will outpace supply within the next few decades. Yet Americans still waste one trillion gallons of water each year, which the EPA says is equal to the annual household water use of more than 11 million homes.
Water demand is expected to increase
Water demand is expected to be a full 40% above the current supply as soon as 2030. Additionally, by 2050, two-thirds of the world will be “water stressed,” with two billion people facing water scarcity.
Water infrastructure is due for investment
Water infrastructure, reuse, treatment methods, and data systems will play a huge role in meeting demand for water. This will require lots of capital. In the US alone, the EPA estimates that more than $655 billion will be spent over the next 20 years.
